Anthony Towne is a contemporary master netsuke carver based in Eugene, Oregon. While many traditional netsuke are made of boxwood or historical ivory, he is particularly known in the global art community for his incredibly intricate, humorous, and innovative miniature works— including his contemporary carved walnut and ivory netsukes. His career as a carver has earned profound international prestige:
• Elite Collections: His meticulous pieces have been acquired by the Tokyo National Museum and are held within the prestigious Japanese Royal Family collection.
• Publications: His unique focus on organic mediums was prominently featured in the International Netsuke Society Journal article titled "Anthony Towne's Wonderful World of Walnuts". [1]
